Does anyone else hear that percussion and immediately think Bow Wow Wow’s immortal beach riff is about to scorch the air?
Both of the songs below exude soaking UV on the beach with a Tecate in one hand and freshly grilled braised pork taco in the other.
Hailing from Perth, the new group off of Modular, Tame Impala, brings an updated, breezier sound to the Modular catalog. They’ll be touring US this summer supporting MGMT.

adequately followed by the first number one quote of the decade, from James Reed of the Boston Globe:
“Say what you will about last year’s big bubblegum anthems – from Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the U.S.A.” to Lady Gaga’s string of pop confections – but compared to “Tik Tok”, those songs are practically masterpieces written by Bob Dylan and produced by Phil Spector.”

I’ve been gone for some time. It has literally been weeks and weeks since I have posted anything whatsoever.
Today that spell is broken and we will be back some posting regularity.
little joy en la playa
I woke up today having an allergic reaction to Tennessee (the puppy, not the state) and listened to the Little Joy track Brand New Start… that album is such an easy listen. Thought I’d jump back in by sharing a song that has withstood the test of time for me.

Since we’re dabbling in the Strokes repository, mentioning Julian Casablancas‘ recent album Phrazes of the Young seems appropriate. After several listens, I stand that the single 11th Dimension is the prominent danceable track.

Tracklisting after the jump…
BUT, before you listen, make sure you watch this trailer for Schwarzenegger’s hit, Total Recall (1990) below. I’m obviously ecstatic to see it tonight at the Drafthouse as a precursor to watching Peelander Z human bowling at the neo-communist themed bar down the street. An uncanny match, Japanese comic pop + the frustrated crust punk USSR bar. America, the melting pot.

Ladies and good sirs, I have several The Twelves Mixes that are honest to goodness Jiffy smooth to the ears. Extra creamy, not the chunky kind. The Brazilian duo has proved some serious longevity and remixing capabilities this past year… simply put, they rarely put out a track that doesn’t get imprinted into my mind, and their uncanny ability to cut between songs in mixes in such a seamless fashion makes you forget about the fact that you’re stuck in traffic and your car smells like old Sonic Burger. Rejoice their distraction!

Ok it’s been dog decades, I’ve been in and out of town, in and out of regularity, but there’s a bevy of novel sounds floating around my track repository right now. Here are some amazing tracks, keep it simple, no fuss about it.
